ABOUT THOSE JOBS NOBODY ELSE WILL DO......

Ken Berwitz

One of the most frequently made arguments for allowing illegal Mexican aliens to stay here is that "they do the jobs nobody else will do".

Well, Alabama has enacted the toughest anti-illegal laws in the country - tougher than those of Arizona.  And we have read reports that illegals are either in hiding or streaming out of the state.  But that should not affect the unemployment rate, should it?  After all, "they do the jobs nobody else will do", right?

With that in mind, please read this excerpt from Neil Munro's blog at dailycaller.com and see how it matches up with that claim:

Unemployment rates have fallen in Alabama amid new legal pressure on companies to comply with a popular immigration reform law.

September was the first full month that the reform was in force, and the unemployment rate fell from 9.8 percent in September to 9.3 percent in October, according to a Nov. 18 report from the state government.

The rates fell from 9.9 percent to 9 percent in Etowah County, from 8.8 percent to 8.1 percent in Marshall county, and from 11.6 percent to 10.6 percent in DeKalb county.

“The latest fall in unemployment numbers is proof that American citizens will work, and continues to solidify [the evidence] that self-deportation [by illegal immigrants] due to the Alabama Taxpayer & Citizen’s Protection Act is occurring,” said Chuck Ellis, a city council member in Albertville — the main town in Marshall County, northern Alabama.

Does that put the lie to claims that the jobs will go begging if illegals are not there to take them?  You tell me.

Look, I wish all people well, and I wish all Mexican workers looking for employment well.  But the place to take a stand is in Mexico, not the United States.  If there are not enough jobs where you are legal citizens, then march.  Petition.  Agitate.  Mexico is not - repeat, not - a poor country.

But do not come here, illegally, and take jobs that legal citizens would be doing if you weren't here - along with lowering the wage scale for all workers - legals included - in the areas that you specialize in (such as agriculture and construction).  That is not fair to people who play by the rules.

I now wait to hear the next 1,000,000 stories from our wonderful "neutral" media about what a tragedy it is that illegals cannot continue to take jobs from legals in Alabama.

free' What a shame we can only know these facts because of an Internet blog, while the MSM try to tie this new law in Alabama to racism or xenophobia. Not for nothing do I label our media as a bunch of criminals, committing fraud on a huge scale. (11/21/11)

-Is President Obama aware that Navy SEALs took down osama bin laden, not him personally?

-Why have most media buried the Jon Corzine MF-Global scandal?

-Is the Obama administration intentionally sabotaging Israel's possible strike against Iran?

-Will media ever start honestly reporting about the Trayvon Martin shooting?

-Will eric holder's testimony about Operation Fast and Furious set an all-time record for most lies about one scandal?

- Right down to:

-Will Debbie Wasserman Schultz ever say anything intelligent or truthful?

-Is there anyone left who will hire keith olbermann?

-Has any non-corporate, regular average consumer ever bought a Chevy Volt? And, if so, why?

In here, nothing is sacred and nothing is out of bounds.

So settle back, preferably after laughing your way through a copy of "The Hopelessly Partisan Guide To American Politics", and let the battle begin. In this blog, your opinion counts every bit as much as anyone else's, maybe even more.

And to show that my willingness to provide all sides of the issues is sincere, here are links to a variety of web sites, from the left, the middle (more or less) and the right. Read them and either smile in agreement or gnash your teeth in anger!!
